Microsoft Follows

Microsoft Corp. is preparing to officially release software that helps small companies do things like build a Web site and maintain business contacts, and plans to link the product to its platform for selling online advertising.

A free, ad-supported version of Office Live will give very small businesses the tools to create a Web site with a company domain name, plus 25 company-branded e-mail accounts. Microsoft will charge $19.95 or $39.95 per month for versions with more options for managing contacts and other business tasks.

All the versions also will include Microsoft Office Live adManager Beta, which small companies can use to buy ads that run alongside the regular results from Microsoft's Web search engine, Live Search.

Google story goes on.....Now Writely

I'll get tired of writing about this company. Google released its word processing application and makes it a part of Google Docs and Spreadsheets. Google bought this for an undisclosed amount.

Google is making sure that it's available to all for free (Well, I know why). Google expects that using internet for sharing document with likeminded people and being able to access the document from anywhere has its advantages over the single hard disk based application. What do you think??

This is a crazy world

DAMMM GOOGLE!!! They bought over Youtube for $1.65 BILLION. MAN, this company is really crazy. I was so happy to see that at least one company is there which has successfully killed any of Google's recent service i.e. Google Video but here it goes..... and this is the biggest purchase in the history.

The all-stock deal was announced on Monday. It came just a few hours after YouTube unveiled three separate agreements with media companies to counter the threat of copyright-infringement lawsuits.

“This is the next step in the evolution of the Internet,” Google CEO Eric Schmidt said and why he feels so? Because google thinks that more viewers and advertisers will move from television to internet.

As of now, both the brands (youtube and google video) will co-exist and deal will be concluded by the end of this year.

Apple looses its origniality

For long, I've been respecting Apple for coming out with inventions, innovations and originality. They have always been setting trends regardless the losses they were incurring but it was definitely worth the respect.

DAMMMMM.... they lose the battle with Creative for iPOD's famous navigation menu and paid them $100M and my respect (only upto some extent) because I always think that Steve et al can't do this thing but they did it and paid the price for it. Hey Steve, I like you for your instinct and innovative thinking (Not as a good businessman though) so please follow your own path and let the rest compete with one another, you have a distinct path for yourself.

Thank You Knoppix Once Again

Hey! This is the last time, I'm thanking Knoppix not because I'll stop using this but because this will become my habit, my way of life and I can't keep on blogging that I'm breathing.

This time, it was the turn of my brother who had an urgent delivery the next day and his hard disk was denying the PC to start. The minute he was connecting the HDD as slave, it was rebooting system but if you remove that then system works fine. The problem was because of W32.Jeefo virus so I provided my brother a tool to remove this and asked my bro to use the HDD as USB and connect only when windows gets up and running but that too didn't work. Final solution as usual, USE KNOPPIX. He had an old version Knoppix 3.0 and that too in ISO format so he created a CD for that, booted and wow....the HDD was detected. He took the entire backup and formatted it.

LONG LIVE KNOPPIX
