My latest phone

Finally two weeks back, I shifted my loyalty from Palm. I'm talking about discontinuing long term relationship with my Treo 650 and shifting to O2 EXEC. Any particular reason? No....and Yes.

I was quite happy with my Treo but it was getting obsolete with time and Treo itself had come out with 700w so my phone was one version old, could I accept this? No way, the gadget greedy me couldn't take this and I thought of shifting to 700w but after having a closer look at the 700w, I thought not to continue with Treo as the screen got smaller and wifi was still not there. I started looking for options and found out this marvelous piece of engineering O2 EXEC...love at first sight. Though the size was a bit bigger for cellphone but I was ok with the idea of having a Mini tablet PC with phone functionality.

This has got Intel Bulverde 520 MHz processor, UMTS / GSM 900 / GSM 1800 / GSM 1900 network support (surprisingly no EDGE), Class 10 GPRS and 3G support, TFT touch screen, QWERTY keyboard, two cameras i.e. one 1.3. MP and one VGA camera for voice call, miniUSB, Bluetooth (1.2 but why?), 802.11b WLAN, IrDA and swivel screen. The only thing which doesn't satisfy to its mini-laptop or mini-tablet tag is the memory it comes with which is 128MB out of which only 43MB available to the user but you always have option to put extra SD card.
Another must have with it is a Bluetooth handsfree because this one is really the widest cellphone (still slimmer and shorter than Nokia Communicator).

Finally I got a gadget which would last for at least two years.........I hope so.

Hitachi offers first half-terabyte 3.5" HDD

Hitachi claims to be the first company to offer 3.5" half a terabyte HDD. Its new Deskstar T7K500 and Cinemastar 7K500 are optimised for data and multimedia respectively. Both run on 7200 RPM and contain three platters storing 160GB apiece.
Cinemastar is for consumer electronics and video devices and run cooloer than their desktop mates and can tolerate a wider range of temperatures. A thermal feedback system ensures that Read-Write head maintains an optimal height whatever the temperature.

Better than Rollercoaster

I was always under the impression that nothing can beat the fun of Roller Coaster, the sheer adventure filled with fun........ but technology evolution forces you to change your perceptions and that's what happened when I found out about Robocoaster made by Kuka Roboter, Germany.

Robocoaster gives you complete freedom of movement and the best part is that you can't predict what's gonna happen next. All you have to do is to select the movements and duration and get a card and you are ready to enjoy this. It has the capacity to accomodate two passengers with distributed weight of 200 kg. The maximum speed is 4.9 m/s.
The entire ride is fun, wild and adventurous and surely can beat our traditional rollercoaster fun. Unfortunately tis is currently available only in Legoland of Germany.

Clocky: For oversleepers

This has to be my first post for various reasons. This is a perfect use of technology to overcome a practical and amongst the most common problem we face. There's an Indian name behind this product.
A few days back I was watching "Beyond Tomorrow" on Discovery channel and found out about some cool stuff and this awesome gadget was featured in that. The Clocky is designed by Gauri Nanda, a lifelong oversleeper who was routinely late for morning classes as a graduate student at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Media Lab, waking up would take some ingenuity.

Clockyâ„¢ began as one of Nanda's class projects, but a flood of media attention made the clock a star. Gauri has since started Nanda Nanda, a company devoted to making all sorts of products, including technologies that are fun to use and a better fit for human beings.

It annoys you terribly because when it alarms and you press the snooze button, it rolls off the table, wheels away, bumps continuously unless it finds a place to rest and then it again starts screaming and you don't have any option except to wake up, search for it and stop the alarm. It finds a new place everyday.
Technology is simple, look is funny but it's practicality is great.
